Saleen was stationed in the temple, overseeing the overall command. Whenever the magic sound array was activated, he would be able to monitor the frontline. Ever since leaving Ceylon City, this was the first time Saleen did not need to put his own life at stake.

“It would be great if the magic sound array didn’t require stable coordinates. That way, the orders could be disseminated to every single commander on the battlefield.” As Saleen was contemplating such a possibility in his mind, Jola stood beside him. Jola and Daniel were swapped, Daniel was now manning the frontline at the port.

Jola’s personality was not suited for on-scene command. Jola could wield his sword to kill someone, but it was challenging for him to be a commander. Saleen knew that he would have to recruit people with leadership capabilities in the future. The battle this time around was not very large-scale. It was only limited to a city, so Saleen could deal with it himself. If the battle was larger, then he would have to recruit talents like those who served under Lex.

If the battle was part of a campaign, Saleen knew that he might not be able to deal with it since he only had book knowledge.

In the sky above the port, the black-robed mage stared coldly at the three kings who had gathered, then said, “Trying to distract us?”

Judikaka chuckled, and replied, “Yes. Anyway if you do not leave with us, we will slaughter your soldiers.”

The black-robed mage rebutted, “I can kill your soldiers too, and I don’t believe you can stop me!”

If any mage from the Myers mainland had heard that, they would have been in utter shame. On the Myers mainland, a mage would never charge forward to kill low grade enemy soldiers. At the very best, they would bless their comrades with some Magic Shields or treatment spells.

“Please do so! Hahaha!” Judikaka’s presumptuous voice spread across the frozen layer. “We shall kill the soldiers. Let’s see who will be faster, okay? At the end of the day, we will have even more spirits under our command.”

In that instant, the black-robed mage’s expression became very intrigued. Had Saleen been there, Saleen might be concerned with his threats, but which of the three kings did not hate Saleen? Since Saleen’s orders could not be defied, they had to execute it. Saleen had anticipated that the enemy might be thick-skinned and try to kill the normal soldiers. That was not his real order.

“Saleen’s order was – Judikaka, if you cannot ensnare the best mage in the enemy’s team, you will receive punishment from the contract.”

Judikaka was simply spouting lies. The black-robed mage had never met a spirit who would lie, so he believed Judikaka. If the three kings went to massacre his soldiers, it would be disastrous for the allied army. He could not possibly kill faster than a high grade spirit, because the spirits themselves were carrying toxins in their bodies.

The allied army was still stationed on the frozen layer, and there was no form of concealment on this one-hundred mile wide layer of ice. In the face of three flying horrifying spirits, the soldiers would have zero chance of escaping.

The other party’s soldiers were mostly based in the city with protection from fortresses. No matter how powerful he was, he also could not kill all of them swiftly. A spirit who was hovering in the sky spit out a ball of gray fog, as though verifying his worries. This ball of gray fog floated towards the soldiers on the frozen layer.

The black-robed mage immediately casted the Wild Wind Spell, destroying that ball of gray fog.

In a timely manner, Banchajanna bellowed at the black-robed mage, “Despicable human, why don’t you dare face us in a fair and square battle?”

“Fine!” The black-robed mage knew that he had a solution to kill the three kings in one go. The soldiers on the frozen layer were still unworthy of getting tortured by them. In a soft voice, he said to the four grade-6 mages behind him, “Follow me.”

Speaking, the black-robed mage abandoned his ground troops and flew north. The three kings were hot on their heels. If the black-robed mage did not fight with them, they would not really care either, so long as the five humans did not escape. More specifically, Saleen was worried that the enemy’s high grade mages would massacre his soldiers in a fit of rage.

The main reason was because the city had not been fully constructed. The skies would have been a no-fly zone otherwise. Even a sorcerer would not be able to fly into the city.

A sorcerer would have to enter through the city gates openly in places like Holy Rock City and Alchemy City. If one wanted to leap over the city walls, they would have to use a ladder like the normal soldiers or step on their comrades’ bodies. If one tried to fly over the city walls, they would receive a barrage of arrows from the alchemical crossbows.

Alchemy City still had alchemy towers which formed a network prohibiting the use of magic. Once this massive magic array was stimulated, no one would be able to fly in the skies. Holy Rock City was even mightier. Once the magic clock, which had been handed down since the ancient times, was sounded, any mages flying overhead would simply collapse onto the ground due to the violent vibrations.

Saleen’s city would also possess such an ability once the thirty-six magic towers were completed. As long as there was a sorcerer in any thirty-six magic towers, an enormous magic array could be activated, preventing all forms of flying.

Humans had invented such a defense mechanism to deal with the flying magic beasts. Ancient humans did not even give a hoot about this matter. Back then, humans could build flying cities. Powerful experts were ubiquitous, no one was afraid of getting disturbed by any magic beasts.

As the black-robed mage left with the three kings, more and more allied troops came onto the layer of ice. These soldiers had escaped from their sinking ships, and many of them did not even salvage their weapons.

The time taken for a colossal warship to sink was really long. Only after a full hour did the twelve warships sink into the ocean. The winged skeleton had achieved victory in his first battle, with a score of twelve to zero. With that being said, there were eight warships out of the twelve which had a weak defense.

The ships from the island states of the eastern sea were not slow at all. In terms of defensive ability, they were poles apart from that of Cloudflow’s warships. The winged skeleton had used eight times his normal offensive power to attack four of the warships, and twice the offensive power against the armed merchant ships. The outcome was not surprising at all.

Nailisi was exhilarated. She wanted the winged skeleton to float up to the water surface so that she could pursue the soldiers who were on the frozen layer. The winged skeleton refused to accede to Nailisi’s request. Nailisi had to stay onboard the alchemical boat as a precaution. Saleen was afraid that the enemy might have some tricks to counteract the Pan’s Turtle alchemical boat. The purpose of the bone spirits was to handle the warships, while the offensive magic array onboard the alchemical boat could lock onto a single powerful target such as a sorcerer.

If the alchemical boat were to float up right now and assault the soldiers who had just come ashore, it would be able to kill at least two to three thousand people. The average soldier would not be able to withstand a large Ice Bomb Spell or the Death Ray.

“Nailisi, Master has said that the alchemical boat should not expose itself to the enemy for the time being. Master will have a way to deal with those people. If you want to help Master, you can go up yourself, but the alchemical boat will not cooperate with you.”

Nailisi licked her lips and pondered for a moment. She did not swim up just to spite the winged skeleton. Nailisi had no problems killing a normal soldier, but she was also afraid that the enemy might have a sorcerer with them.

In a solo battle, she would not be afraid of a grade-7 sorcerer. This was the battlefield. There were definitely more than twelve-thousand soldiers who had swam up onto the frozen layer, there might even be fifteen-thousand people. It would be insane of Nailisi to duel with so many people.

“Little skeleton, when do we haul up the sunken ship?”

“When the battle is over.”

“I am referring to the second dynasty warship.” Nailisi was already getting impatient, she was thirsty for the coordinates to the demonic plane. If she could deceive some demons to come over and be her bodyguards, then she would not need to be fearful of such situations in the future.

“Humph, Master wants the materials onboard that warship. Nailisi, the agreement between us…”

Nailisi’s eyebrows jerked up, and in a moment of fury, she said, “Are you going to renege?”

“Don’t be angry Nailisi. If you dare to disobey Master’s command, I will have no qualms about it.”

Nailisi got a little demoralized as she thought about it. The winged skeleton wanted all the materials onboard that warship. After Saleen acquired the dragonshard, he had decided to use those materials to produce an indomitable warship. The dragonshard alone was insufficient to produce the warship. Saleen wanted to obtain the thundercloud wood and divinecherry wood which were found in the second dynasty warship.

Saleen was extremely determined to get these items. If it was not for the unforeseen circumstances back at the city, Saleen might have already collected the remains of the warship. Originally, the winged skeleton wanted to use the remains of the warship to reinforce the Pan’s Turtle alchemical boat. Since Saleen was eyeing those materials, the winged skeleton had no choice but to think of an alternative.

“Wait, little skeleton. When you were in the Frozen Sea, did the alchemical boat not already advance in grade? Currently, this ship should already be at the grade of godly equipment.”

“This has got nothing to do with our agreement. Nailisi, you better think of an idea to provide me with sufficient materials.”

Nailisi felt extremely oppressed. Saleen could still block out any disturbances from the winged skeleton. The winged skeleton and she were Saleen’s summoned creatures, so it was impossible for her to stop the winged skeleton’s voice from appearing in her mind. Of course, she could use this matter to lodge a complaint with Saleen, but that would be too embarrassing.

While Nailisi and the winged skeleton were arguing underwater, those soldiers who had escaped ashore just received the first wave of assault.

Four-hundred Caucasus warriors, riding on their magic wolves, had wielded their bows and began shooting at the soldiers from afar.

The archery skills of these Caucasus warriors were beyond petrifying, they were considered to be the elites among the warriors. Even though they had never cultivated the Sword Aura, they were at the standard of a swordmaster. These four-hundred magic wolf cavalrymen employed the ejection method, thus allowing the range of their bows to be about eight-hundred meters. From such a distance, even a normal alchemical crossbow would lose its accuracy.

The quivers of the Caucasus warriors were standard thirty-six arrow packs. Each warrior carried two quivers, having a total of seventy-two arrows. Since there were four-hundred of them, there were almost thirty-thousand arrows altogether. If a normal soldier were to fire these arrows, they would not be able to kill many people, especially because the arrows were launched using the ejection method. The accuracy of these Caucasus warriors was too high. After a few rounds of barrage, most people had already been killed when the arrows descended from the sky and pierced their skulls.

The warships belonging to the allied army had a handful of horses. Since the ships were sinking, the soldiers were busy fleeing. None of them led the horses onto the frozen layer. On a lifeboat, a horse would occupy the space of five humans.

Immediately, a commander ordered for a defense to be set up. About five-thousand soldiers had brought along their equipment, and around one-thousand small shields were gathered for the defensive effort. Nevertheless, more than seven-hundred soldiers were killed, while another six-hundred or so were injured.

The Caucasus people were still ejecting their metallic arrows calmly from a distance of eight-hundred meters. Since the fleeing soldiers did not have a large alchemical crossbow with them, they could not retaliate at all. There were no cavalrymen present. As the four leading magic beast swordsmen witnessed this scene unfolding before them, they felt melancholy for their enemies.

Had this battle took place on a real battlefield, one army would be able to defend against such a harassment. At that moment, two-third of the soldiers did not wear armor, and one-third of them did not wield any weapon at all.

The four-hundred magic wolf cavalrymen could execute their harassment offensive without any casualties. Sir Saleen’s plan was indeed effective.
